It has to be one of my favourite things to capture these little clients of mine as they grow to be not-so-little anymore!  I find it precious how each and every baby I photograph has a mind and a personality unique to themselves, and I love getting to make them shine.  

As younger girls, Kaiden’s mom and I used to play together while our parents worked on funny skits for a marriage program at the church.  It had been almost since then that we had connected, so it was a happy surprise to see her name pop up in my emails (so much so, that I almost didn’t recognize her married name!)  She had originally booked a newborn session with me, but Kaiden happened to be born right around the Covid-19 lockdowns, and we ended up transferring their deposit to a cake smash instead.

These milestone sessions have been extra tricky since Covid began, between the babies not getting out much, not meeting many new people, and of course the masks, it’s a lot harder to make friends with them and get them to show their personality.  While we ended up with plenty of the ‘blue steel’ facial expressions from Kaiden, he also wasn’t afraid to be goofy and smiley, and really dig into his cake!  His absolute favourite part was the milk bath after the cake though.
