Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Birth Photographer | Joey’s Hospital Arrival

A few years ago, I had the pleasure of being able to meet a family expecting their miracle rainbow baby.  They had booked with Alison Jeanette Photography for a series of photo sessions throughout their little one’s first year, and at the time I was looking for a family willing to be the first to allow me to document the birth of their baby and this family was happy to oblige.

This was my first experience attending a birth, and perhaps what fuelled my passion to start taking doula training and become a birth and postpartum doula myself!  It has always been my dream to provide this type of support for mothers, and also be able to offer them the option of capturing this memory forever.

Some of my favourite moments from this birth came from the ‘calm before the storm’ if you will… Mom was lucky enough to have both her husband & mother’s support as she was induced and laboured for several hours.  The tender stroke of husband’s finger down her nose and forehead, the loving embrace of her mother’s hand intertwined with her own.  Precious memories that she will never forget.

“It’s a girl!”

Baby needed a little help early on, so unfortunately there wasn’t an opportunity didn’t get many bonding moments while I was there, but I heard she was reunited with mom & dad fairly quickly, and I was able to come back for Fresh 48 photos the next day.
